It was reported today by the Free Press that Northville Township has “erroneously” billed its residents for a Wayne County tax that supports the SMART bus system even though Northville Township had opted out of the bus system years ago. The township is pointing to Wayne County saying that this was a mistake that resulted from communication errors. The county has responded that they had nothing to do with the error.
In any case, this “error” serves as an important reminder to all property owners. When you receive either your tax bill or your assessment you should take a few minutes to verify that everything on the statement appears correct.
