Parallel IRS Investigations

This is a fairly troubling new trend in IRS procedure. In the past, if the IRS was contemplating a criminal investigation of a taxpayer, the civil division would halt their examination to preserve the rights of the taxpayer in the potential criminal case. Apparently, that is no longer the case.
