Constitutional Right to Warn Other Drivers of Police

A Florida man was ticketed for violating Florida law when he flashed his headlights to warn other drivers of a police speed trap. According to the judge presiding over the case, not only does this activity not violate the Florida statute under which the driver was ticketed, but the act of signaling to other drivers via the flashing of headlights is protected “speech” under the First Amendment.
